We are a foundation

Fundación Amigó is a non govermental association with an extended solidary platform in favor of youngsters in need of affection, family and social foundations who suffer from “insufficient material and moral needs, with behavior alterations and personalty perturbations”.

Our slogan is: “A boy that is reeducated is a saved generation”. A noble mission of solidarity supported by the followers of Luis Amigó: “the lost youth apostle”.

We are Amigó

This alludes to Luis Amigó, born in Massamagrell (Valencia-Spain) in the 17th of October of 1854. He was a Capuchin monk and Bishop of Segorbe, founder of the Amigonians, family and also of this foundation. He died on the 1st of October of 1939 in Godella (Valencia- Spain), after spreading his reeducative activity all over the world. He was declared Venerable by the Pope, in the 13th of June 1992.

The venerable figure of Luis Amigó is highly acclaimed by his well-earned international reputation, as a starter and guide of anew reforming pedagogy, especially in favor of boys who experience behavior problems. An education founded on the principles of comprehension based in the merciful love, knowledge and respect of the pupil in an affective and interpersonal relationship atmosphere, with the right stimulus and corrections, for the harmonic development of all potentials in the progressive use of their freedom.

Following the command and example of their founder, the Amigonians meet today´s younsgters, trying to give the appropriate answer to their problems. Commiting their entire lives with these youngsters and their families, in : discriminated districts, reeducation centers, therapeutic communities, family houses, schools which specialize in special education and protection..... Always aiming to their progressive social reinstatement.

The Amigonians

On the 12th of abril 1889 Luis Amigo founded offically in Masamagrell (Spain), the order of Capuchin Religious Terciaries of Our Lady of Los Dolores, also referred as the Amigonians.

The Amigonians feel the calling of being the witnesses of Christ´s love on behalf of all young people who experience the loss of affection, family and social life, alterations of conduct and personality perturbation. They assist those youth who in particular for whichever reasons have been misguided in life or who have not found their direction in life.

“You, helpers of the Good Shepherd, you are the ones who will go wondering off lost until you lead it to its corral. And do not be afraid to fall under where you will often find yourselves to save the lost flock.” (Luis Amigó).

Following the guidance of the Good Pastor, the Amigonian feels the calling to believe in true love, developping particularly the behavior of humbleness, compassion, mercy, hope and joy, which distinguishes secular life. The Amigonians look for those who are lost, share their hopes and joys and are commited to give their lives to those in need. These are the characteristics which help grow in a continual human and spiritual life of the Amigonian, these characteristics identify their family life and their apostolic obligation on behalf of the lost youth helping to make the Amigonian education a real education that is filled with : trust, social interaction, affability, comprehension, closeness, and family oriented.

The Amigonian family are constituted as well by religious nuns and priests who all form the order of the Capuchin Tertiaries, who all are involved in helping to bring the wonderful presence and mission of Luis Amigo in favor of all youth who experience behavior problems:
