The work of Fundación Amigó centralizes on helping youngsters and adolescents who suffer from behavior problems, loss of family and social unit, material deficiencies, loss of moral identity, alterations in conduct, and personality perturbations. We also help their family, social, work backgrounds.
With our desire all of them, the Fundación Amigó has created an infrastructure of direct help, which consists of the following programs:
1. Treatment and Rehabilitation of Toxics
4. Street action:
Our goal here is to seek the prevention of inadaptive conducts and to integrate into a process of outreach towards minors and families in need.
Our work on the streets was innitiated in Torrelavega (Cantabria) and there its program has gained its major development.
S.O.A.M. (Serving to Orient and to help the Minor)
Our program functions in mind of the work that has been performed in Torrelavega
and its surroundings.
Recently, the city, like other industrial cities, is changing by a progressive rate. This is due to the increase in population in the surrounding neighborhoods. It also has to due especially with the increase in the immigrant population from South America.
The problems faced at the social level remains the same as the following:
- Desintegrated families
- Marriage Conflicts.
- Mistreatment, drug abuse, unemployment.
- School absence.
- Inadaptive conducts.
The main social unit of society does not change to resist these problems and the lack of measures to fight these problems increases at a rapid rate. Therefore, S.O.A.M. is there to help and to help in these needs.
There exists the strong need to prevent and to work in order to fight these problems which affect our population especially adolescents and children.
Objectives:
- To serve as a point of reference in order to reach out to the needs and to find solutions to the problems of minors.
- To offer a service of orientation, and companionship to those youngsters in need and to families that ask for our help.
- We work in order to make their integration to society possible as well as their family and social backgrounds.
- To promote free time activities. recreation, cultural activities, and occupation.
- To recognize the alternatives that our society has to offer with the mean to take advantage of them for the better.
- To make society aware of the problems which bring the inadaptation of youngsters, to promote the neighborhoods, enters of interest, and to support youngsters.
- To reach out to the youngsters who experience problems, that is where we can find the cures in order to help them integrate and find their solutions.
